Monthly Zikr at the Heart Centre – in person!

Time:
-
Calendar:
This Zikr is for those who live near enough to attend in person, at the Heart Centre in Luddenden, near Hebden Bridge (UK).
Zikr means remembrance. This Sufi practice invites us to remember our original and underlying state of unity with All-That-Is. Using body prayers – simple, gentle yet powerful movements – combined with chanting in Arabic, most commonly the Zikr phrase La illaha illa’llah (which could be translated ‘the only reality is Unity’, or ‘there is nothing except the One’), we celebrate Unity. Moving, chanting and breathing in rhythm together we begin to harmonise ourselves as individuals and as a group. Our bodies and hearts can realign with the rhythm of our souls. The result can be wonderful: we may experience sensations of devotion, peace and joy, heart-opening connections with others and a sense of oneness with all-that-is.
The group is open to all open hearted spiritual seekers.
We start promptly at 7.30 pm.
How to join:
Please message us if you would like to attend, so we have an idea of numbers.
We offer these gatherings freely, however, it supports our work and our ability to provide for our family and home if you are able to offer us a donation. But no-one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Donations – via Paypal – paypal.me/theheartcentre (please leave the ‘Goods and Services’ button unchecked to avoid a charge being levied) Please use ‘Sufi Group’ as the reference.
Jilani was initiated in 2006 into the Chishti Sufi lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel Lewis, and raised to the level of initiator or Sufi Guide in 2016. She has led a weekly Sufi Group since 2009 at her home near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. She is also a musician and international Leader (and Mentor) with the Dances of Universal Peace. She is known for her ability to hold a safe and sacred space, where there is always an invitation to journey deeply, and where people can feel confident and profoundly supported. Her relaxed and patient teaching style means the dancers easily learn the words, chants and movements.

Simple Dances and Chants to Delight the Heart and Feed the Soul!
Let us guide you in these simple body prayers, moving in a circle, accompanied by beautiful live music on guitar and viola. This is meditation that involves our whole being, inviting us to experience connection with each other and with the divine. The Dances of Universal Peace use simple and beautiful sacred chants drawn from many world traditions, combined with gentle yet powerful movements. We teach all the movements, words and chants carefully each time, so beginners can easily join. The depth of peace and devotion that can be experienced often takes us all by surprise.
Traditionally, communities have celebrated and supported each other by singing and dancing together in a circle. We can still experience this timeless way of being together through all of life’s joys and challenges. Be nourished by the warmth of heart connection, receive the support of a circle who accept you just as you are. Feel the joy of fully inhabiting your body, feel the awakening vibrations of your own voice joining with others, allow yourself to be truly present in the moment, with the experience of being fully alive.
